Numerical Simulation of 2D Flow Filed of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

In this paper, the two-dimensional viscous flow in vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) is numerically calculated by means of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Through numerical simulation, the pressure field, velocity field and velocity vector are obtained and analyzed in detail. The results show that in the case of normal wind flow, the effect of wind on flow field of turbine is relatively obvious. The maximum of pressures is located at the interface between blades and rotating region. Compared with the normal wind flow, the effect region is relatively smaller in the case of extreme wind flow, but the variation of each parameter is more remarkable.
